Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage recently revealed his desire to shift from the big screen to the small screen in a recent interview with Uproxx. Cage expressed his belief that he has said what he needs to say through cinema and is now keen to explore different avenues and methods of expressing his acting skills.
However, before making the transition to television, Cage plans to complete three or four more movies, as he is bound by contract obligations. According to the acclaimed actor, his interest in immersion streaming with episodic television was sparked by his son introducing him to the critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad. Cage admires the time and depth given to characters in television shows, which allows for more thorough exploration and expression.
Reflecting on his extensive film career, Cage commented that he has dabbled in various genres but has yet to try his hand at Broadway or a television show. Seeking a new challenge, he aims to continue learning and growing as an actor.
In addition to personal growth, Cage also mentioned potential benefits of being a TV actor. He believes this move could potentially reduce the amount of memes associated with his performances while also affording him more quality time to spend with his family.
Despite his plans, Cage emphasized that he is not completely closing the door on cinema. He intends to be selective with future film projects and even mentioned the possibility of revisiting fan-favorite films such as Face/Off or Ghost Rider. However, his primary focus lies in developing new and innovative ideas.
Cage admitted that the future is uncertain and he is still in the process of formulating his ideas regarding this career transition. It is evident that he is excited to step into uncharted territory, seek new challenges, and continue to evolve as an actor.
