Apple is set to launch lower-cost AirPods later this year, as confirmed by analyst Jeff Pu. The tech giant has tapped Foxconn, a major supplier, to contribute to the production of these budget-friendly wireless earbuds. In addition, Foxconn is gearing up to ramp up AirPods assembly at a factory in India by the fourth quarter of 2024.
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is gearing up to unveil two fourth-generation AirPods models in September or October. The upcoming models will include an entry-level option and a mid-tier option, both featuring a new design, improved sound quality, and an updated charging case with a convenient USB-C port.
The mid-tier AirPods model is expected to come equipped with active noise cancellation and Find My location tracking capabilities, adding to the user experience. However, it remains uncertain whether the lower-priced AirPods are the same as the entry-level fourth-generation AirPods.
Moreover, Apple is also anticipated to release updated AirPods Max in the fourth quarter of 2024. The new AirPods Max are rumored to boast a USB-C charging port and could potentially come in new color options, providing users with more customization choices.
With these exciting updates and additions to its AirPods lineup, Apple continues to enhance its range of wireless accessories, catering to a wide range of consumers with varying budgets and preferences. Stay tuned for more updates on Apple’s AirPods as the launch date draws closer.
