Samsung is rumored to be gearing up to release a more affordable version of its Galaxy Z Fold 6 later this year, with a price tag expected to be well under $1,000. According to a report from Korean outlet SisaJournal-e, the tech giant is aiming for a price of around $800 for this cheaper variant of the popular foldable phone.
This price point would be less than half of the existing $1,799 price for the Galaxy Z Fold series, making it a more accessible option for consumers. However, in order to achieve this lower price, some compromises may have to be made.
The cheaper Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to lack S Pen support, have a lesser display, smaller battery, and a different chipset compared to the more premium “Ultra” model. The camera on the cheaper version is expected to be “similar to the existing model,” potentially featuring a triple-camera array or a dual-camera system.
Additionally, the cheaper model may have a different, more affordable chipset compared to the “Ultra” model, potentially from Samsung’s own Exynos line or a cheaper Qualcomm offering. An official announcement for Samsung’s upcoming foldables is expected in early July, with more details on pricing to come.
