Verizon Customers Could Receive Settlement in Hidden Fee Lawsuit
Verizon customers may be entitled to a portion of a $100 million class action settlement, following a lawsuit filed in New Jersey alleging undisclosed administration fees. The settlement, which aims to compensate affected customers, covers charges issued between January 1, 2016, and November 8, 2023.
Customers impacted by these hidden fees have until the spring to file a claim in order to receive a settlement payment. Eligible customers can expect to receive up to $100 each, with the final amount dependent on their duration as a Verizon customer. Instructions on how to file a claim will be sent via mail or email to qualifying customers.
Although Verizon denies any wrongdoing, the company is required to update its Customer Agreement to include revised Administrative Charge disclosures as part of the settlement agreement. By doing so, Verizon aims to minimize any similar issues in the future.
It is important for customers to take action and file a claim before the deadline of April 15, 2024, as failing to do so will prevent them from suing Verizon over the issue. They will also be bound by any court orders and judgments related to the settlement.
For customers who wish to opt out of the lawsuit, a signed request for exclusion must be submitted by February 20, 2024. This allows customers to retain their right to pursue individual legal action against Verizon outside the terms of the settlement.
To find out more information or initiate a claim, customers can visit the official settlement website at www.VerizonAdministrativeChargeSettlement.com. It is strongly recommended for all eligible Verizon customers to review the details and take advantage of this opportunity to potentially receive compensation for the undisclosed administration fees.
