Denver Nuggets star guard Jamal Murray found himself in hot water after being fined $100,000 by the NBA for his actions during Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Murray was penalized for throwing a towel and heating pad towards an official, a move that was deemed “inexcusable” and “dangerous” by T-Wolves head coach Chris Finch.
Although the official crew chief, Marc Davis, did not witness the objects being thrown in real time, he stated that it would have resulted in a technical foul if he had seen it happen. Despite the frustration he showed on the court, Murray struggled with his shooting, going just 3 of 18 from the field. After the game, he quickly left the arena without speaking to reporters.
Murray, who has been playing through a calf strain, may be feeling the effects of the injury on his performance. As the best-of-seven series shifts to Minnesota with the Nuggets down 2-0, the team is hoping that Murray can both keep his cool and improve his shooting to help turn the tide.
