Pet of the Week – Domino – Adopted!

Meet Domino

This week we highlight Domino, a handsome tall, male, black and white doggy.  He is about two years old.  Domino was found earlier this month north of town – in the Cerritos area.  He followed someone home to the Costa Bonita condominiums.  Concerned animal lovers who live there brought him to the shelter.  Domino is someone’s lost or abandoned pet.  He is extremely friendly and wants to be in contact with people at all times.  He loves to be petted.  Domino is being treated with antibiotics for ehrlichia – caused by a bite from an infected tick.  He does not require a special diet.  Domino will have his neutering operation next week.  Then this friendly boy will be ready to find his Forever Home.  He will be a good pet for some lucky family.

Adoptions – Mercedes, Burbuja and Kitty Didi

This week two dogs and one kitty found their Forever Homes.

A special Pet Parade / Dog Walk was held at the mall Plaza Acaya (formerly Plaza Sendero) where the Woolworth department store is located.  At that special event, several people expressed interest in ADLA pets, which resulted in these three adoptions.

Mercedes is a shy black, brown and white doggy, who found a loving Forever Home with a family with two young boys.  This doggy will have lots of fun running and playing with these new, energetic family members.

Burbuja, which translates to Bubble, also made contact with its new family at the Pet Parade.  This family has two pre-school sons.  They were looking for a small dog to fit into their family and their home.  Burbuja was just the right size and personality for them.  The family returned to the shelter right away to finalize the adoption.

Didi is a tiny, tri-color kitten.  Her new owner saw a photo of Didi at the Pet Parade.  She asked her parents if they could meet Didi in person – and the rest, they say, is history.  The whole family fell in love with this kitten and she had a new Forever Home within a day’s time.

THANK YOU to all of the adoptive families and to others who attended the Pet Parade in support of Amigos de los Animales.

Thunder Shirt – Special Pricing

Living in Mazatlán is a noisy proposition – even more so during the upcoming Carnaval celebration.  For the next month, Amigos de los Animales is offering special pricing on Thunder Shirts – just $200 pesos – with sizes available from XXS to XXL.  If you aren’t familiar with Thunder Shirts, please visit their website.  There are also numerous videos on youtube demonstrating their benefits.  Basically, a Thunder Shirt “swaddles” a doggy and reduces anxiety during stressful, noisy situations.   Results vary from dog to dog, but there have been some miracle cures from anxious behavior with the proper use of a Thunder Shirt.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you ticket holders at our annual Champagne Brunch fundraiser – Sunday, January 26, 2020, starting at 9:00 a.m.  The Brunch will be held at Marina El Cid Beach Club.  This is El Cid’s beautiful event center located on the beach peninsula just north of Marina El Cid hotel and south of La Marina Yacht and Tennis condominium complex.  From the north end you can drive directly to the venue.  If you choose to enter from Marina El Cid hotel, you can take the (FREE) five-minute, water taxi ride to the event center – which is kind of a fun way to start the day.

At this year’s event we will be requesting donations to help fund the construction of FIVE additional kennels, allowing us to rescue even more helpless street animals.  Thanks to an anonymous, Super Supporter of the animal shelter, your donation will be matched peso for peso up to a maximum matching amount of $10,000 pesos.  Please donate generously to help us reach our Donation Challenge Goal of $10,000 pesos.

Also, please help fill our Donation Box at the door.  We need pet food, please – and litter boxes for our cats.  Our cats eat Purina Gatina – Cat Chow Gatitos, which comes in a red bag.  Our kittens eat Purina Cat Chow Gatitos (kittens), which comes in a blue bag.  Our puppies eat Purina Campeon Cachorros (puppies), which also comes in a red bag.  We always need kitty litter, towels, Clorox, laundry soap, cotton balls, Q-tips and large, heavy duty garbage bags.
