Pet of the Week – Shaky

Meet Shaky

For the last week of 2019, our featured pet is Shaky.  This doggy is a medium-sized, one and a half year-old, female with pretty brown eyes.  Shaky was abandoned at the door of the shelter along with her three older puppies, Mercese, Ferrari and Porsche. (do you sense a car theme here??).  She was tied to the metal frame of the window but the puppies were left loose.  This could have had a tragic ending on busy Bicentenario Juarez, but luckily the puppies stayed with their mama and did not wander off into the street.

Shaky has a residual tremor, probably from an earlier bout of the viral infection, canine distemper.  She does not have any other symptoms, nor are her puppies affected.  Shaky has a quiet personality.  She does not require any medications or a special diet.  After her puppies are completely on their own, Shaky will be spayed and ready to find her Forever Home.

Adoptions – Elsie, Peludin and Trueno

This week, two of our older cats and a kitten found their Forever Homes.

Two of our juvenile cats, Elsie and Peludin were adopted by a woman and her son.  The two kitties have lived together for months in the same cage.  The woman who adopted them did not want to separate them from each other, so decided to take both kitties home to join her family.

Trueno, which translates to Thunder, is a tri-colored, male kitten.  He was adopted by a young man who liked Trueno’s looks and his playful personality.

Monday Happy Hour BINGO at Friends Diner in the Golden Zone – 3:30 p.m.

Please remember that Amigos de los Animales animal shelter hosts a weekly BINGO game every Monday at Friends Diner in the Golden Zone.  The games begin at 3:30 p.m.  This time coincides with Friends’ Happy Hour (3:30 – 5:30 p.m.) with special pricing on most drinks.  The cost per BINGO card is $50 pesos.  There are four “regular” games.  Then there is a final, Blackout game for an additional cost of $50 pesos per BINGO card.  Friends Diner is located in the Golden Zone – #300 Laguna.  This is one block west (towards the ocean) from Panama Restaurant and then 50 feet south on Laguna.  The telephone number is 913-6066.  Happy Hour at Friends is from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.  Come enjoy an adult beverage or two and dinner, while supporting a very worthy cause.

Thanks for YOUR Support of Amigos de los Animales

Whoosh.  Whoosh.  A New Year – 2020 – and a new decade.  Remember when Y2K was a huge issue and all computers were going to come crashing down??  That was TWENTY YEARS ago.  Where does the time go??

As 2019 comes to a close, we at Amigos de los Animales wish to acknowledge and thank all of you who have supported the animal shelter this year.  The shelter would not exist without our dedicated paid staff, who work every day helping the animals live better lives.  We have an inspirational network of volunteers who walk dogs, clean cages, foster pets, feed, water and groom the animals, play with the cats, do laundry, clean, clean and clean some more, operate our thrift store and do a myriad of other tasks.  Thanks to all who help at our fundraising events and donate items for resale.  We have a wonderful group of Super Supporters, who make monthly financial contributions that help pay monthly expenses.  Finally, we wish to thank those very special individuals and families who provided Forever Homes to previously homeless dogs and cats.  Thank you to one and all.  We look forward to your continued support in the years to come.

HAPPY NEW YEAR – Próspero Año Nuevo

The best of 2020 to you, your family and friends from all of us at Amigos de los Animales.
