Pet of the Week – Chiquis

Meet Chiquis

This week our featured pet is Chiquis.  She is a medium-sized, three-year-old, female doggy – tan in color with a black muzzle and eyebrows and black and white highlights in her fur.  Chiquis was rescued from an abusive home, where she was tied up all day, tethered by a five-foot rope.  She was loaded with ticks and fleas.  Chiquis was first taken to the ranch north of town, where our Cat Annex is located.  She was treated for anemia and ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne bacterial infection.  Chiquis recovered her health.  She has been spayed and is now ready to be adopted by a loving family.

In spite of Chiquis’ abusive past, she has a gentle temperament.  She seems happy to be in a comfortable environment.  She will be a good family pet – loyal and protective of her new people.  Chiquis does not need a special diet or any medication.  She must continue eating a healthy, nutritious diet.  Let’s find Chiquis a loving Forever Home this holiday season.

Adoptions – Paquita, Dory and Peluchin

The week before Christmas three of our dogs found their Forever Homes.

Pretty Miss Paquita, our featured Chihuahua-mix Pet of the Week from last week, was at the shelter for less than one week.  She was adopted by two grandparents and their granddaughter after they learned that she had been discarded at the shelter door by her former owners.

Little puppy, Dory, was adopted by a family that included a young daughter.  She fell in love with this puppy when she first saw her.  Dory will receive lots of attention from her new human playmate.

Peluchin also had the good luck of finding his Forever Home after less than a week at the shelter.  Peluchin, a playful, friendly pup, will have a young woman as his primary care giver.  We wish all of our adoptions could be this quick and easy.

Donations

This week we received a terrific donation from Super Supporter Linda and her husband.  They purchased new living room furniture and offered their used sofa, love seat and chair to the animal shelter.  Thank you for thinking of us with your generous donation.

Year End Reminders – Early Bird Pricing on Champagne Brunch Tickets and Tax-Deductible Donations

There is just ONE WEEK LEFT to buy tickets for our Champagne Brunch at a discounted price of $500 pesos per ticket.  In January the price increases to $550 pesos.  This is the annual, major fundraiser for the shelter.  It will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2020, starting at 9:00 a.m.

PLEASE NOTE – this year the Brunch will be held at Marina El Cid Beach Club.  This is El Cid’s beautiful event center located on the beach peninsula just north of Marina El Cid hotel and south of La Marina Yacht and Tennis condominium complex.  From the north end you can drive directly to the venue.  If you choose to enter from Marina El Cid hotel, you can take the (FREE) five-minute, water taxi ride to the event center – which is kind of a fun way to start the day.

This annual event is more than an ordinary brunch.  Our event features a tasty buffet with many hot and cold food choices, unlimited mimosas (sparkling wine and orange juice) and a Silent Auction with dozens of items to bid on.  In addition, there will be raffles for two booze baskets and a separate 50/50 raffle draw, where the winning ticket holder takes home half of the pot of pesos.

REMEMBER – the cost for a ticket is $500 pesos until December 31st and $550 pesos thereafter.  There are only 230 tickets available at this smaller venue, so buy yours early and save some pesos.  All proceeds benefit Amigos de los Animales, Mazatlán’s Humane Society.

Tickets are available from:

Please Remember ADLA in Your Tax-Deductible, Year-End Gift Giving

Please remember the animal shelter in your year-end gift giving.  Donate on behalf of someone special in your life or in memory of a beloved pet.  Your donation in their name will change the lives of the street animals living at the shelter.  It is the perfect gift for the animal lover on your shopping list, who cares about making a difference.  Every donated peso counts.  Here are instructions on how to make your year-end contribution to those less fortunate:

Donating is easy.  Here’s how:

  1. Visit our webpage – http://www.amigosdelosanimalesmzt.com;
  2. Click “English” at the top of the first page and choose “Donate” in the drop-down box;
  3. At the top of the second page click on the yellow “Donate” button follow the prompts;
  4. The Donation Page will open with $0.00 with the cursor blinking after the final zero. Enter the amount of your donation WITHOUT any decimal point.  PayPal will take care of the decimal point for you.  For example, for a donation of $100.00, type in all five numbers – 1 0 0 0 0.  PayPal will record this as $100.00.
  5. Check the box “Make this a monthly donation” if you want to donate this same amount of money to Amigos de los Animales each month.
  6. Click on EITHER the BLUE “Donate with PayPal ” circle – OR – the WHITE “Donate with a Debit or Credit Card” circle and then fill in the remainder of the information on the Donation Page – depending on which method you choose.
  7. Check the box agreeing to the terms of the money transfer and then click on “Donate Now”.

You MAY have to tell PayPal that you are NOT a ROBOT by clicking on the “I am Not a Robot” box.  Your donation will go through PayPal and will be listed on your credit card or bank statement each month as PAYPAL INST XFER AMIGOSDELOSANIMALES.

Amigos de los Animales is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and can provide you with a receipt for income tax purposes.  Please dig deep so that we can continue to provide proper food, shelter and medical care for these neglected animals.
