Southbound bypass to Mazatlan Airport is now open

Airport Bypass

Secretary of Transport, Javier Jimenez inaugurated the bypass that connects the Mazatlan freeway (libramiento) to the airport.

The construction called for an investment of $160 million pesos funded by Federal resources. The bypass has been a long term project but has finally been completed.

The bypass will improve driving time coming from south of Sinaloa or driving from Concordia, Rosario or Escuinapa to the Airport. About 465 residents of the area will benefit from this road.

More infrastructure projects are coming

After a working meeting between Mazatlan Mayor Luis Guillermo Benitez and Sinaloa Governor Quirino Ordaz, it was announced  that more infrastructure projects are in the pipeline:

  • $100 million pesos investment for the project of Urias creek
  • $50 million  pesos investment to expand the road to Quelite and the road to Stone Island
  • $120 million pesos investment to expand Rafael Buelna

The Governor said that they are working also with the Federal Government to obtain the approval for a new cruise ship terminal with a commercial and restaurant area and the aqueduct project to warranty water in the Nuevo Mazatlan area.
