Holy week will be safe and fun – says Mazatlan’s Mayor
To ensure security for locals and visitors during Semana Santa (Holy Week) a major Security Operation will be in place until April 28 with the deployment of 1,072 police, transit and lifeguards patrolling with 180 vehicles.
The main tourism areas from Stone Island to Faro, and from Faro to Cerritos will be patrolled, including bus terminals, highway entrances and exits, as well as the airport.
10 outposts of Public Security will be available on Stone Island, and in the vicinity of Quijote Inn, Hotel Las Flores, Los Pinitos, Carpa Olivera, Valentino’s, Sectur, Cava del Duero and the Fisherman’s Monument.
Beach Management and Operation will be working with 32 staff members and 300 volunteers in coordination with the ecology Directorate to encourage visitors to keep the beaches clean.
41 QR code menus will be installed at different points to allow the visitors to easily search for information about restaurants, hotels, tourist attraction and other useful information. The QR code menus will have a surfboard shape.
Mazatlan Fest 2019, including Carnaval (again!)
From April 18 to 20 the Mazatlan Fest will include music and entertainment and will feature a little sample of the Carnaval.
On April 18 and 19 stages will be installed along Avenida Del Mar at the Fisherman’s Monument, Lola Beltran, Aquarium and Insurgentes with DJ’s, banda and other bands that will be playing from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
On April 20 at 6:30 pm from the Fisherman’s Monument to Valentinos there will be a shortened version of the Carnival Parade with 8 floats and an appearance of the Carnaval Queens. At 9:00pm a music show at Bahia Avenue will be performed by Sonora Dinamita and Tucanes de Tijuana.
City authorities said that the Holy Week party will be 100% family oriented and the Municipio will not be selling alcohol during the events.
