Traffic awareness program on Avenida del Mar
The first generation of cadets from the Public Security Secretariat started a program of traffic awareness on Avenida del Mar
The Avenue is one of the favorite spots for Tourists, but even with numerous traffic lights, pedestrians have low or no priority and cross walks are completely ignored. As part of the program, the cadets will be promoting the use of seat belts, stopping for pedestrians crossing, and obeying the signals.
The cadets will be enrolling in the Police Academy very soon and this program is part of their curriculum.
“Today the cadets are creating awareness between pedestrians and drivers to have in the future a better Mazatlan. Sometimes, people do not see all the hard work that cadets are doing at classes but soon the difference is going to be noted” Said Ricardo Olivo, Public Security Secretary
We could use them at the Port Gate!! There are literally HUNDREDS of tourists walking across the streets to walk the Blue Line, get into Aurrigas or taxis, or just going to the OXXO. And many locals just speed through that area, plus I have to say that tourists are not the most aware people on earth.
