Sinaloa takes part in Spain’s FITUR Tourism Exhibition

From the 23rd to 27th January, Madrid once again became the focus of attention for the international tourism community with FITUR, the International Tourism Fair. This year’s event was bigger than ever, both in terms of participation, its international scope, and in its new content, in line with the industry’s record growth.

This year’s edition focussed on sustainability, specialization and new technologies – features that are transforming the industry, and which will be the central theme of a strong offering aimed at improving tourism management, trade contacts, and the promotion of destinations and traveler experiences. All this comes together in a single platform, and at the beginning of the year, it is a key moment for defining strategies for the whole of 2019.

Also, this year’s International Tourism Trade Fair takes place, in a context of worldwide growth for the industry. According to WTO figures, the world’s destinations received 1 billion international tourists between January and September last year, a growth of 5% year-over-year.

“After the great success of Tianguis Turistico last year, Sinaloa and especially Mazatlan have benefited in terms of Tourism. We met here in Spain with Tour Operators that went to Tianguis last year, and now they know the destination and that helps a lot. We held with them very successful working sessions”, said Oscar Perez Barros, Sinaloa’s Secretary of Tourism.

The project Costa-Canyon was presented to Sunwing Executives hoping to promote packages with beach destinations plus visits to the Copper Canyon.
