Playa Espiritu project could be auctioned off

The Mexican Government will make available for investors 2,381 hectares of Playa Espiritu in Escuinapa to promote Tourism in south Sinaloa.

The project already has roads and other infrastructure but is still waiting for hotel and tourism investments.

The land was once owned by former Sinaloa Governor, Antonio Toledo Corro, and was bought by Fonatur (Tourism Fund) in 2008.

The project has a Government investment of $403 million pesos for maintenance and conservation.

“We need to analyze what is more convenient if finishing the project with private investment or auctioning it off. We have to sell it or develop it because at least we have to recover the land investment that was paid with the money coming from taxes that belong to the people,”, said President Lopez Obrador during his visit to Teacapan.
