Soriana’s Co-owner found dead
Carlos Martin Bringas, Businessman and Co-owner of Soriana, was found dead in his car at the Mieleras Park in Torreon.
Sounds of gunfire were heard around noon today and a body was found inside a Touareg. The person was found in the driver’s seat with a gunshot on the left side of his head while the engine was running. The businessman was found with a gun in his left hand. It is believed that the shot was self-inflicted.
The deceased was also a member of the Board of Directors at Aeromexico, Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Laguna, Museum of Torreon and Laguna Economic Fund.
Soriana Group announced the death and condolences for the family were paid at the Mexico Stock Market (BMV). According to the last report of BMV Martin Bringas’ Family owns 57.3% of Soriana Group.
In 2015, Soriana purchased 160 stores from La Comercial for $2.6 billion, bolstering its position as the country’s second-largest retail chain behind Wal-Mart de Mexico, and the Bringas Family are part of the Top Wealthy families in Mexico according to Forbes.
So far, Torreon Prosecution authorities have not issued any statement of this case.
