New Director of Mazatlan Port announced.

The Port Authority of Mazatlán (API) is a Federal government entity and operates under the Transportation Secretariat (SCT).  The Port will have a new Director, Mr. Jorge Gonzalez Oliveri.

Prior to his posting to Mazatlan, Mr. Gonzalez was Director of the Port Authority of Veracruz and has been working for Sinaloa Government and oil companies, as well as professor of International trade and logistics at a private University of Mazatlan.

The Director position was vacant since mid-2017 when Mr. Erce Barron was imprisoned and charged for fraud committed during his prior administration at API Quintana Roo.

API’s responsibilities are the management, promotion and development of the Port’s infrastructure.

About the Port

The Port of Mazatlán began operations in 1890 and was resized in 1991 as part the region’s development project. In 2011 Terminal Marítima Mazatlán  (TMAZ) of SAAM Group won the tender for the Port’s redevelopment. On November 9, 2012 TMAZ began operations in the port offering transfer of goods or merchandise; management services, storage and custody of foreign trade goods.

The Port now handles general cargo, containers, oil and oil products, cars and cruises. There are also facilities for the operation of ferries, shipyards, sport fleets, freezers, marine research and education.
